Occupying 46,713 m2 of retail space, Ikea Tebrau in Johor Bahru is the furniture giant’s largest store in Southeast Asia. Lighting up large spaces comes with several important design considerations and challenges. High-altitude lighting systems are difficult to reach so selecting long-lasting LEDs from reliable brands was crucial in delaying replacements by several years.

We worked closely with global lighting innovators and design experts to choose LEDs and a trunking system that would allow seamless integration of different lighting modules and optimize illumination in three different spaces. The end result was a flexible system that enabled us to specify positions, angles and lighting combinations to meet the unique requirements for each space such as the high warehouse ceilings of the market hall.

All in all, we installed luminaires throughout the car park, market hall and café to enhance product display and navigation as well as replicate the familiar bright and friendly ambience experienced in Ikea stores the world over.
